One thing about me is that I love the sea a looot, and every time I get a chance, I go explore new seaside spots, venture into cute little cafes, take a plunge in the sea (ideally with my snorkel and fins!), have my little picnics on the beaches, and wait for the sun to start setting, coloring the sky with vibrant colors that reflect on the water. I just loveeee all of that!! Over the years, I’ve collected many amazing spots in Japan worth visiting, with most of them being lesser-known places. So get comfy and enjoy today’s recommendation: Miura Kaigan 🪷🌴

Misaki Port: Charming Cafes, Fresh Seafood, and Ocean Views

Misaki Port is such a charming little seaside spot, perfect for a relaxing day by the water. I love wandering around the harbor, watching the boats, and soaking in the fresh sea breeze. One of my favorite stops here is a cozy cafe called Suzumeya, run by the sweetest, friendliest couple. Their drinks and desserts are top-notch, super refreshing and absolutely perfect for a hot summer day. Every time I visit, I can’t resist trying something new from their menu while enjoying the view and the relaxed seaside vibe.

Jogashima Park: Stunning Views of Mt. Fuji, Rolling Hills, and Rocky Beaches ₊˚ʚ 🌱 ₊˚

Jogashima Park is an extremely beautiful spot, perfect for a day of exploring and soaking up nature. From the park, you can enjoy stunning views of Mt. Fuji, especially on a clear day when the sunset hits the sky with vibrant colors. The park has rocky beaches easily accessible from walking paths, endless picnic lawns, and several viewing decks and points where you can relax and take in the scenery. I highly recommend visiting on a clear day to watch the sun set while Mt. Fuji slowly appears in the distance—it’s truly magical.

I was especially lucky when I visited during a full moon eclipse. On one side, I could see Mt. Fuji and the sunset painting the sky, while on the other side, a huge moon glowed in soft shades of orange and pink. It was one of those moments that makes you fall in love with Japan all over again.

Nagai uminote Park Soleil Hill🏕️

The park is a little off the main road, but there are direct buses from Misakiguchi Station on the Keikyu Line, so getting there is pretty easy! I’d recommend coming early in the morning to make the most of your visit, as the park has so many facilities and attractions to explore: a petting zoo, panoramic decks with Mt. Fuji views, a campsite, cozy cafes, flower fields, lakes, sliding slopes, an onsen facility, and plenty of fun activities for kids. One of my favorite spots was the huge sunflower field with a view of Mt. Fuji; literally a view I’ll never forget.

Sunset Hill in Arasaki Park: A Hidden Gem with Sea and Mt. Fuji Views 🌄

Sunset Hill in Arasaki Park is truly a hidden gem I stumbled upon while checking out the places around Soleil Hill, hoping to find some nice beaches to relax at after walking a lot throughout the day. Since the access to the water is rather rocky and not suitable for swimming, the main attraction here is the sunset viewing, with stunning views of Mt. Fuji glowing in the setting sun. Of course, it all depends on good weather and clear visibility, but if you’re lucky and check the forecast beforehand, you definitely won’t regret making the trip! The park itself is huge and almost empty, so I’d recommend coming a few hours before sunset to explore at your own pace and fully soak in the nature. 🌿

Miura KAigan: swimming, Windsurfing and Paddling ⛵

Miura Beach is a lovely spot to relax and watch people windsurf, paddle, or surf. I love swimming, so I also went for a dip in the sea, looked up at the sky, followed the windsurfers, and just soaked in the moment. The beach can get crowded on weekends during summer, but once September comes, it’s almost empty, even though summer in Japan continues until the end of October or early November. The water stays really warm, probably close to 30°C (or at least that’s how it felt to me!). There are also cute shops and cafes along the beach, so make sure to stop by if you’re interested.
